.243 Swaging Dies?

I recently bought at auction four RCBS Rock Chucker presses.
Two of them had swaging dies and ejectors set up on them but there was no information or marks on them to tell me what they were for.
Any idea what make these are? They look to be of good quality. The form die looks like Detsch which would be good.

The core die may be for making cores for .223s using 22rf brass. They slip right into a 22rf case.

I was hoping that the forming die would be .223 but it turns out it is .243" and makes a nice spire point. I know because I tried to run some 22rf jackets in and they come out wrinkly from being undersized. Then measured with pin guages at .243"

Did you say one die was a de-rimming die?
I have a Corbin de-rimming die for 22LR and also 22Mag to 6mm

The first one pictured is a core swaging die. Little strands of lead extrude out of three bleed holes on the side.
The other is for sure a point forming die and the boolits end up with a small boat tail.

I don't think I will try to form any more on these dies using 22rf brass because if they are Detsch, they are quite valuable and I don't want to screw em up.
Looking online, it seems they are THE dies to have for precision swaging.

BTW, I derim my 22rf brass with a 22 Hornet die and a 4.75mm ram.

What you have there is a core forming die in the first photo Its bob simonson Die
The second die is a Detsch point die Both are top notch high quality die.
I'm curious what is the ogive on the point die by detsch?

I would sell or trade these dies since I have no .243 dia. rifles.

Looks like you are missing the core seating die. From looking at your photos, the core seating die must be a boattail seating die judging from the boattail punch in the ram of the press. Prices?

OK what do you want for Just the dies?. your going to need the presses with rams and ejectors.

I think I would be best served to list them on EBay.
I do want to keep the presses and the ejectors so it would be dies and pins only.
Is anybody here willing to ballpark a value?

It would be hard to put a price on them at this point.
One has some rust and the other one looks a bit dirty with minor rust on the outside.
I have no way of knowing whats inside as rust goes , especially with the point up die.
The core forming dies were about $ 250 to $350 New The point die is the expensive one in the $1000 + range . New
Value will depend on overall condition.
no bull I bought a Simonson point die on 6mm BR .com for $500 and it was a deal { like new }
I guess it's what the traffic will bear. I'm not even sure if they are carbide they could be tool steel dies.

I will say, the boat tail pin looks a little rough on the edges and I don't know what a replacement or regrind will cost.
Does Detsch make steel dies or only carbide?

Usually Detsch are carbide but that depends on which Detsch made the die I 'm pretty sure clarance made a few of tool steel most were carbide Simonson made both tool steel and carbide
I've seen ruined dies by careless users. Problem is I can't see the bottom or inside of the die.

By the way those rams and ejectors were made by Bob Simonson.

I have seen BTSniper swage factory boolits in his dies to either change the ogive or the base.
Would this be foolish to do in these dies if only to see what the finished product would look like? Maybe to see the surface finish of the boolit out of this die?

Just take any old soft lead bullet that will fit in the point form die and swage it to shape. You should be able to judge the condition of the die from that.

It will be hard to do anything the way things are. You don't have a bT seater die that matches the punch or a flat base punch for the point die and a core seater die.
I could make you an offer for the dies the way they are. I already have several sets of dies . Or you could buy the core seat die and punch and make a complete set.
I could if you want test them for you and send back your dies with samples. Thats an offer , and up to you.
I'm making 6mm bullets now on J4 jackets. They would be Flat base bullets for you on your point die
