I was gifted about 3lbs of AA 2460 last year. Tried it with jacketed bullets, it seems to be a little slower than IMR 4895 in 222 and 22-250.
Has anybody tried it with cast bullets? If so, in what calibers? AA doesn't give any data for cast bullets and I can't find any mention of AA 2460 with cast bullets anywhere else. I've never tried reducing a ball powder, with this burn rate, enough to get velocities of 1500-2000fps. In fact, I don't even know if it's possible. I'm thinking Dacron filler would help since there would be so much empty space in the case.
Anybody try it, or have any suggestions?

30-30, AA2460, 24.0 gr, 165 gr CB (plain base), about 1600 fps. However, It's not really very good because it is a relatively slow burning ball powder and you have to keep the fill % in the case up above about 70% to get good burning-- and in my 30-30 that means I have to seat the CB so deep the lube groove is almost at the base of the neck. It does work, and maybe it would also work with a lower fill % and a longer cartridge-- but I get nervous with low fill % in this kind of powder. That's why I stopped using it and just save it for higher velocity jacketed loads.

I know this is a cast bullet forum but bear with me. I use A2460 in my HBAR to push 69 gr Lapua Scenars. Works fantastic. How well it would work for cast, well I don't know.
