I have a guy local with a large statue made of pewter (Franklin mint), online stuff shows it weighs roughly 10+ pounds. I have talking him into $40 for the thing. Would this be a decent buy to melt down for some tin to add to my range lead?

I don't cast a ton, so this would probably last me a very long time.

Price is right at $4/lb. Make sure it isn't worth more than the tin it's made of before you melt it down.

I think I will pick it up and debate on whether to melt it to sell it. Heard the Franklin Mint still is hit or miss on prices going up.

I have picked up Franklin mint pieces for $20 that weighed around 8 to 10 lbs that the wife wanted to keep.... (one day they accidentally fell into the pot)

Im sure they were worth way more then I paid for them and I could have sold them for more but...eh

and make sure it is 10 pounds of pewter ... not a heavy base made of something else or hollow and filled with unknown marerial..
