It was a gorgeous day today in the low seventies with LOTS of sunshine. Just about as good as it gets. I hit the range with a friend and had a really good day with the S&W 625-8 (JM Special). Since I was shooting so well, I decided to make my last target the S&W 16-4 (6") .32 mag.

I had loaded my "Now standard" 100 gr Keith Group Buy bullet in S&W Long cases with 2.8 grs of Win 231 and a CCI Small Pistol Primer. Bullet was WW+2% tin, sized .313" and had a moderate crimp in the crimp groove.

I shot the pictured target standing at 25 yards (25 yard timed fire target) shooting slow fire. For me, this was the "Perfect ending of a perfect day".

I had hoped that others would chime in with THEIR results of the .314" 100 gr Keith. Is there no interest?

Al had suggested to me last year (before these were run) that his favorite was the RCBS 100 gr Keith bullet. I had used some of them and agreed with his assessment but needed more than a two cavity mould. This particular group buy six cavity Lee answered that need. Now, as Al had suggested, this bullet is my favorite for the .32 S&W Long and the .32 H&R Magnum. It is not an exact copy of the RCBS but is rather close.

It would be interesting to hear what others have to say about this mould.

Thanks for listening...

I have the mould, and have shot some with the group buy boolit. I have not had a chance to wring it out with respect to doing any serious load development. Too many other higher priority projects queued up.

In my limited experience with it...

It shoots nearly as well for me as the RCBS 32-98-SWC and casts a whole lot faster. I suspect I could easily overcome the slight difference in performance with some load development. LLA tumble lubing has worked just as well as conventional lubing.

I also have the Willbird 312-120-RF mould and like that one, too. To date I have shot a lot more of these through a 30-30 than in a handgun.

The RCBS takes up less room in the case than either of the group buy moulds. but that hasn't really been an issue for me in the 32 H&R Mag. It might be if you are using 32/32 long brass.

I would like to pass some results along, but I don't have any of the group buy moulds or the RCBS for the 32, I am just using 311252 and 3118. I am however looking for one if you have a spare.

This is a nice group. That's an 8 1/2" x 11" target right? :drinks:

even if it's the official 25 yard pistol target, that is still good!

I did alot of work with that bullet and never got good results in any of the 4 guns my buddy and i tried it in. You hit the load area that it only worked for me with. Loaded with 2.5 grains of bullseye in S&W long brass it shot just over an inch a 25 yards. Most loads with it hovered around 3 inch. Ive had much better luck with the rcbs version and even better luck wth the 105 ballistic cast swc. If a group buy was ever done thats the bullet id like to see.

Thanks for the kind words. That is the standard 25 yard target but lost the "sides" when scanning (it's wider than the scanner bed).

Lloyd;
I have shot that bullet up to 1200 fps with about the same results in my 16-4 (using .32 H&R Mag cases).

It has worked quite well for me. My standards may be looser than yours. If it will shoot under 1" at 25 yards, that is "good to go" for me.

I ran a three thousand round test of 32 S&W Long through four revolvers several years ago. A custom, six inch barreled Charter Arms, a four inch ,late model Police Positive, a two inch Dick Special and a S&W three inch, 32 Hand Ejector. The RCBS 098 was good but the great surprise was that all four favored the Lyman .311008 by a large margin and even more amazingly they favored the same load!. Cast of wheel weights, air cooled and lubed with Hodgdon Alox. 2.8 grains had been my favorite load for many years. 2.8 grains of Ramshots, ZIP provided almost identical velocities with groups cut almost fifty percent in size. Bullets .310 for the Charter Arms and .313 for the others. Velocity from the four averaged at about 820 fps which is slightly over 100 fps faster than factory loads. 5.5 grains of 2400 provided the second best accuracy in these revolvers and burned clean while velocity was slightly over 900 fps. Ken Waters stated that he thought that tis may be the best boolit for the cartridge and I concur. Neil

dale if i can get one inch groups at 25 yards out of a sixgun im in heaven. I couldnt get that bullet to shoot under 2 inchs in anything other then in s&w brass. that was in my two guns and two of my buddys he tested it in. 2 dogs had better luck with it and i ended up giving him my mold. it wasnt doing me any good.

I am casting that bullet at 16 BHN and using some lube that Lloyd sent me. Using a CCI mag primer and 2400 powder I am seeing 2.5 inch groups at 50 yards with that bullet out of my Stroh Bisley 32 mag. Not to bad if you ask me.....

Not too bad at all!!:mrgreen::mrgreen:

Speaking of a Bisley, I have absolutely NO need for another .32 magnum. However, I say however, if I run into a Ruger Bisley SS at the OGCA show next month at a decent price, I will probably add another (it's a sickness, I tell you, a sickness[smilie=1:).

I had one of the first Bisley 32's available, some 25 years ago - tight, fluted cylinder, accurate. Traded it in a moment of 'need.' Took 20 years to replace it, but I found one. Hope you find one, too.
