I just bought a Pacific Tool Case trimmer from roots911. It came with seven pilots. Three of them don't fit the trimmer and I wonder what they might go to?

157930

The mounting shaft is only 0.137 inch (3.5mm). Otherwise they look just like the Forster Pilots (http://www.midwayusa.com/product/440250/forster-original-power-case-trimmer-pilot-30-30-caliber-308-diameter). There is a 44, 24, and 30. The measurements of the pilot head match the diameters on the Forster site for pilots of those numbers.

The shafts on the ones that fit well are 0.187 (3/16) inch.

Anybody have something that needs this size pilot shaft?

0.187 is 3/16 not 5/16 .137 could be hornady .187 is forster

Could be wrong but I think forster, redding and rcbs are .187

I'll have to check, but I think that the RCBS trimmer uses those little pins.

It would be good to know which ones use which.

Hornady bought Pacific Tool. I was told Hornady and Forster pilots would fit the Pacific Tool case trimmer.

If you have a case trimmer like the Hornady Cam-Lock trimmer, can you measure the mounting shaft for me? I need to purchase a pilot for 30 cal. I need to know which manufacturer's product to buy.

I have a 31 cal pilot that worked great with my 7.62x54R cases.

(you are correct, 0.1875 == 3/16. Fixed it.)

Just got off the phone with RCBS and there pilot stub is .152-.153 so I don't know about .137 unless it is an old Pacific

I had an old Pacific ... from the '60s. It used the larger shafts.
Sold it when I found how far off the mouths were from being square to the body.

Never noticed when loading 'small calibers', but .45 showed up enough to see it with the naked eye.

My Hornady Cam-Lock pilot stub measures .187 +/-

the .137" pins fit the GT Smiley trimmers. The early ones. Some of the latter ones use the RCBS pin diameter.

Made one for the Lyman the other day. End that went into the cutter was .136".

So - I'd bet Lyman is it. Numbers look like same font as my Lyman factory pilots, too.

Cottonpicker: Thank you, that confirms what I have been told. Pacific pilots = Hornady and Forster

MtGun44: Thank you.

So should I post 'em up in Swapping and Selling? I'd like to swap for Hornady or Forster pilots, but what are the odds someone would be in the exact opposite situation I am? :?:
