Just minutes ago picked this pistol up. Was advertised in excellent condition, but when I met the guy I talked him down to a hair over five due to holster wear. Bore is great and pistol seems in all around solid shape. Prices on Gunbroker seem to fluctuate quite a bit and besides condition I am not sure why. Would rate bluing as around 85 percent imho. Not planning on selling it, just trying to figure out if my dignity is intact! Thanks guys as always for your knowledge share. As a side note I need to stop buying these classic pistols soon or seek therapy...

Edit - pretty sure those aren't original grips.

Nice find, I'd sure like to feed that thing a couple boxes of 38s. Best of luck!

it's a beauty and I think the price is right.

Thanks guys for the reassurance. I bought my first ever Colt revolver for Christmas (a 32-20 Official Police) and just may have caught the bug. Have been acquiring classic Smith's and this represents my second Colt pistol. Now if I could find a M29 for a decent price!

You did GREAT! I have $450 in a similar year DS, and thought I'd stolen it. Gun prices vary according to area, and here, Colts seem to go high. It's a really crazy market in guns out there. A friend just picked up a 10" SuperB for $200! All my buddies seem to come into these type deals, while anything short of full retail seems to be a "good deal" for me! Maybe I'm just not livin' right???

I have never been a Colt fan. However, I have coveted those Diamond backs in .38 Special for many, many years. It is a near perfect trail gun and I cannot think of a better edible small game gun. .38 Special gives you the option of carrying a snake shot load in a couple of chambers, too.

You did GOOD!

Ya' done good! My wife's 4" DB .38 is about the same vintage and wears its original grips, but shows a bit more wear and she's turned down $750 without even a blink.

Colt prices have gone insane lately. You got a good price on that gun.
