i have a tc encore in a 50 cal barrel and a lyman deerstalker flintlock also in 50 cal. i use a .490" muzzleloader ball and a .490 miniball. i was wondering can you use a 44 boolit(275gr ranch dog 12-13bhn) in a 50 cal sabot?

Sure, I have used cast boolits with harvester sabots with mixed success.
There are different sabots out there that I've not tried that may work better, but I've not tested them yet.
The patched round ball seems to work the best for me.

the patched round ball works just fine in my lyman. its not so good in the encore. a mini ball works alright for both of them.

Honestly I've never liked Harvester or MMP sabots period. Crushed Rib or any of the others included. Always gave me trouble when reloading them on a once or twice fired & foul barrel. But I have used T/C Break-a-Ways with soft BHN lead boolits and never had any problems with them other than the sabot is no longer made. But occasionally now and then some show up for auction-sale on the Bay. Just my opinion and a alternative to consider.
