I have just got a new 243 rifle that I want to use to shoot cast bullets. The throat is extremely short with the rifling engaging the bullet about 1/4" from case mouth. This makes it extremely difficult or impossible to chamber a round unless the bullet is seated deep into the case.
I would like to have the throat opened up a little. Can I do this myself or should I find a gunsmith to do this? The rifle is a new Mossberg Patriot. It shoots and chambers great with factory ammo.
Thank you, BL
