I would like to hear your theories as to what this was used for (besides making boolits). I had it analyzed and it is 92.8%Pb 6.9%Sb. Hook end is coated in a rubber type material, about 3 foot in length and weight is 35 lbs.

My first thought would be a window counterweight, though I haven't seen one with flutes or that style hook.

Perhaps a weight for some type of balance scale.

You are correct. It is a Electroplating Anode. Thanks for the comments.

Yes......Plating anode. The hook is to hang it in the tank from the electrical connection on the anode side. The flutes are to get more surface area.

Pretty wild I was talking with a vendor at a gun show last weekend and he was telling me he had picked up a couple hundred pounds of anode rods. Now I know what they look like thanks to the OP sharing.

While we're all at it, how about boat keel? Any good?

it can be.
sometimes it was straight up dead pure lead. [built from a reputable boat maker]

other times it was just whatever lead they found melted into the mold.
all it had to do was be heavy and hold the boat upright.

it's lead though and you can manipulate it to be what you need without too much trouble.

My only worry is zinc content. I'll do any hardness lead, it's the zinc I'm worried about.

acid test with drain cleaner, pool acid, concrete etching acid. They will fizz on contact with zinc, won't fizz on lead.

Looks like chunks of some kind of metal. Source, boat keel, as stated.

That hanger has a definite art deco look.
