I think I've searched and read about every thread I can find on loading the 454 but my search-foo may not be good enough. What I haven't found is reliable data using the Lee bullet and 2400. My bullets weigh in at about 315gr checked and lubed. Anyone load that combo. I've been loading it with imr4227 and like it so far, but have 2400 on the shelf and wanted to see if it was as good or better than the 4227.

It's a good powder for your work with the Lee 300-RF. I've used it many times however I'm not running on the extreme side of the 454 Load Data. Rather I like to run in the 1200-1300 fps range; 2400 will easily get you there. What were your loads with 4227 and this boolit?

Running it with 26.2gr of imr4227. Nice shooting load. Mind giving me a starting point with the 2400 and that bullet?

Considering your 4227 load I would work at 24.0 grains and work up to your liking if needed.

I have been using that bullet/powder combo exclusively for both my Super Redhawk and Super Blackhawk in .454 and am slowly working up. I started at 17 grains and have worked up to 21 at my last outing. No chrono data yet, but its getting to be stout. I believe I am still far from max and that's not my goal anyway. Max I believe is near 26 grains. I believe I will be happy in the 22-23 grain range but I have good accuracy at 21 right now and it seems to get better as I load hotter.

It is a great combination in my opinion.

I have used 2400 with a 325gr LBT GC bullet, load was 23 grains, I have used it more often with J bullets of 300 grains in the 25-26 grain range, it has given me excellent accuracy. For plinking loads, I have used HS 6 and Unique extensively and have found both to work very well. I have burned more HS 6 and 2400 in my M83 than any other powders.

Thanks! I'll report back when I find a load that works in my gun.
