very light plinker is 1 grain unique and a 46gr rn from my lyman mold. very quiet, but very efective on small game to 50 yards or so in town. this is in a handi, so it does have a faster twist.

Lyman 225438 round nose gas check bullet, sized to .224, alox, with neck sized, once fired brass.
7.5 grains of IMR 4227 for a 10" barrel on a TC Contender
Winchester cases and primers

Shoots 1&1/2 " at 100 meters on the silhouette range.

I use this in an old Ballard chambered for the forerunner to the Hornet.

Hornet case, neck sized and primed.

NO (as in zero) powder.

22 Air rifle pellet.

Almost quiet, good accuracy and adequate for dispatching starling and discouraging cats and other pests.

I will have to try the 1 grain loads.

I drill out the primer pocket and use a shotgun primer and the 22 air rifle pellet also in my T.C. Cond. Got garden load. will have to try the small pistol primer, good idea- Joe

It is my understanding (from Grandpa during the War) that it was common practice to redo shotshell primers using small pistol primers. Ergo no need to alter a case to use the shotshell primer.

shotgun shells use large primers of about rifle strength. They can be put into shotshell primers but the anvil has to be removed from the rifle primer without blowing your finger off before inserting it. All in all not an easy task.
