Hi Pete,

Welcome to the forum. Start at http://www.hodgdon.com/ and review the data for cartridges that interest you. Look for similar bullet weights. Do not be concerned about jacketed or cast at this point. Find loads using H4895.

Then go here: http://www.hodgdon.com/PDF/H4895%20Reduced%20Rifle%20Loads.pdf and read about reducing loads. H4895 has given me excellent results in numerous rifle cartridges and cast bullets with velocities between 1400 and 2250 fps.

Take care, Tom

What about 2400?

2400 could work but it has been super secret unobtainium around here for about 100 or so years now.

I'd just go with the bulls-eye you already have 11-12 grs would get you pretty close to what you want.

For your 170g lead .308 load, you already have Bullseye. Try about 12 grains and work up or down 1g for a 1700 fps load and look for an accuracy node or just load up 10 grains for 1500 fps plinker load and shoot away. The GC might help accuracy, but I've shot the Lee 309-170-F without a GC and it shoots just fine with 10g and no GC.
