Anyone familiar with Data Powder No. 9-C? I have a chance to pick up an 8lb jug, but haven't been able to find out much about the powder. It is in a sealed plastic jug, so I know it can't be too old. I do know its an Accurate Arms powder, is it simply #9 in a canister grade?

or commercial.
I have a white jug of data#9 here and it's proven out to load and match regular #9 data.
I'd treat it as a slightly faster version of the powder when working up some loads until it proved out otherwise.

I have some 9c which was purchased some years ago. At the time I called Accurate and was informed that it was slightly slower than AA9. I have never gotten into trouble using standard AA9 data and even slightly exceeding it in the .357 and .44 mag. It has worked very well for me.

I'm not too worried if it is a little slower, I doubt I will be using it for full-power loads...probably be using it to get .41 Mag, .44 Mag, and .45 Colt heavyweight bullets to around 1000 fps.

So long as it is treated like every other power we all use; START DATA and work up you will have no issues. So many people forget that and it often leads to problems.
