Are Mak mags interchangeable between true Makarov pistols from different countries?

If you mean .380/9mak mags being the same, yes, they are. I have a Russian originally chambered in .380, to switch to 9mm mak, you just swap barrels.

Actually I meant 9mm Mak mags, but from different countries. For instance,
will the mags from an east German Mak fit in a Bulgarian Mak.

All of my various country of origin Mak's interchange just fine. You may have different results, but I have 15 of them so it is a good bet you will have the same result.

It has been my experience too that makarov mags are makarov mags. So long as you don't end up with a pa64 mag. Oh, or those commercial double stack ones. I think the model was ij70-18AH. This uses an odd magazine that surely doesn't interchange with any of the other *real* makarovs. The pic below from artful is helpful, you can see the commerical baikals on it too as they have the adjustable sights.

There is only ONE true Makarov - Don't be fooled

Just remember lots of people think if it's chambered in 9x18 it's a Makarov Pistol.

Top two on the right are Polish P64
Second row center is a PA-63. Next right is a P64.
Second row far right is a CZ83 9x18.

Good info. Feel as though I've entered in to a proud tradition, albeit a communist one :-). Very happy with my Bulgy, what a shooter. I think I may have to lap that Lee mold, though. Without slugging, I'm confident my boolits are .001-.002" undersized, and they're leading up pretty good at speed. What's a good alternate Mak mold? This one looks nice: http://accuratemolds.com/bullet_detail.php?bullet=37-115M-D.png
