I was thinking that if this could be done, the center of gravity could be shifted further aft in the same boolit to determine the best boolit weight and/or CG for that given mold. What say ye?

Easily done. I've probably got 20 HP molds set up like this. I have several hollow base molds set up for adjustable depth also.

Who does your molds?

A private maker who doesn't want a lot of business or noteriety. I believe Buckshot can do this also as he has about the same holder system.

Can the mold be returned to non-hollowpoint status if things don't work out?

You will still have a pin, even though it is only to the meplat. A short pin can be provided with the HP pin to make solids.

That reminds me of a HP mold that the pin was not returned to. Ever see a boolit with a pitot tube? Kinda looked like an aircraft bomb with the little nubbin hangin' out there.

That's the new design for fast twist barrels. You cast with the "pitot tube" and then cut to length to tune it to your twist.../beagle

...............I make 2 types of ways to cast a solid in a HP mould. One is with a FP pin in the same handle used for HPing. The other way is 'hands free', so there is no handle to manipulate.
