Ive been busy the last couple of weeks lining and fitting out a gun case for a friends Manton 577 double rifle .
thought I would share a couple of pics of my handy work and a superb firearm .
Camera flash has washed out the colour a bit , the lining is actually maroon not pink like it appears.
Got a lot done today added more compartments but Ill post more when I get it finished .

This the first case I did for him ,Before and after , but the inside of the lid is not finished. his Gibbs 505 magnum (top ) and his Mannlicher 8mm (bottom ) fit in to it.
Both of the cases were made by others , other friends now deceased so they both have sentimental value .
Im just fitting them out .I do plan to build a case for my 500 Boswell double rifle in the future

Oh, nicely done - what cloth are you using in your builds?

English billiard table cloth , its not cheap but is very nice to work with .My friend purchased the cloth and sent it to me .
I need to find out where he obtained it as I think I have found a hidden talent and may continue making them on commission.
I have the woodworking machinery and tools to do the work

I haven't been charging my friend for my time while I have been fitting out the two gun cases as he is a friend of many years and has done me a few favours over the years
Well I had a nice surprise today , he called me to find out the progress of the cases and told me that he is giving me an original 1892 Winchester in 44/40 cal for doing the work . I haven't seen it as yet , but he described it as in excellent condition , full length ( ? not sure what length but he said it was about 25" ) barrel and magazine.
Ive been looking for a nice original 92 in 38/40 or 32/20 for a while , so I,m pretty pleased with the unexpected offer.

It is those unexpected offers that show just how much your efforts mean to others, and going by what you have shown, the "gift" is very well deserved.

Very nice work. Also, some beautiful guns to go in them.

Thank you all for the kind words I will post pics of the finished case and the Winchester when I get finished .
My friend passed through town on Sunday and called to see my progress , I'm please to say that he was absolutely blown away by the finish of the interior of the gun case , he humbled me by telling me that it is as good as if not better than some of the cases that he has by the famous English gun makers.
I have also received much encouragement to keep making gun cases from others who have seen these examples so it may come to pass that I will continue in the future.
