The fella went and bought me a mold!
He ordered it from MidwayUSA I think. It's a Lee 452-200 semi wad cutter.
We scrubbed it out with dawn and set it on the hot plate to warm while the casting pot heated up. After a few drops, it seemed to be running young, so I threw everything back in and started fresh.
I was delighted to see that the bullets rained out of it like water, and it casts at .453-.454. What more could a guy ask for?
What a nice thing he did! It is a very rare occurrence that anybody gives me a mold, and this one runs like a top such that I couldn't ask for better!

I gotta say, these new Lee 6 gang molds are nice. I'll be the first to admit that Lee puts out some cheap stuff, but I don't feel that way about their 6 gang molds. This is the fourth one I have owned since 2010 and I was always very pleased with the size they cast, and the quality and consistency of the bullets, and I only ever had one cavity that was a little sticky on my 452-230 RN (nothing a little tap on the hinge wouldn't dislodge).
This new mold is better than ever, as you see they vented the top of the mold as well as the faces of the blocks. Not bad at all!

The venting is a new wrinkle there. FYI the 45 round noser is still going strong. Fun Fun Fun!

Well, Merry Christmas! That is a nice present.

I have to agree that the 6 holer Lee molds I have are all pretty good pieces of
equipment. I have a number of Group Buy molds and some standard designs,
of which the .357 158 RF and 356 120 TC are particular standouts in design of
the boolit, accuracy and also function as a mold.

Lee learned venting! My last four 6-banger's were vent cut like the should be. Saves me the hassle of doing it on my milling machine with a fly cutting head and power feed table.

I cast that same boolit. With a 6-banger, the boolits rain into the water catch pan.

I have a TL version of that mould, not the latest version but it makes a bunch of boolits in a hurry with no fuss.

the 6 cavity lee molds are the only ones I have been buying now

I started with the 356-120tc that drops 359 and I use in 9mm and 38spl

then got the 401-170tc for the 40

then the tl430-240swc

and a 490 round ball mold that track of the wolf has mad up , I need a 440 round ball mold also , the only way to feed a bunch of kids with muzzle stuffers

have a 430-200rf that I need to get to still new

I see they started making the ed harris bullet the c312-155r2 and c312-160r2 in a 6 cavity I may need one of those , I wure wish they would make a plane base and gas check 309-170rf in a 6 cavity

I go through so many of those 356-120TC just a great bullet , been powder coating the ones for the 9mm it really likes them that way

Merry Christmas Mary!
Yeah, you have to try one of these six gang molds if you get the chance. It'll spoil you on 2 cavity molds

With carpal tunnel the 6 cavity are to heavy, I can crank out a lot of boolits from a 2 cavity mold in a few hours. I tend to baby my wrists and shoulders after have surgery twice on right shoulder AND right wrist!
