That's on every Green Machine I've seen and believe it's a proprietary part (bullet feed and seating die) of the machine. Yes, it would be nice to rig up something like that for the Auto Champ. Maybe Dave at CH4D would put something together.

Thanks beeser! That's exactly what I need to know. If anybody else has anything to add I'm all-ears. If anybody has one/some of these in 38/357, 44 mag, 45 colt/acp I would be interested in them!

Hi,
Thats the French guy, notice if you will he has taken the primer punch out of the sizing die because he is using primed brass!

Sort of defeats the purpose of a progressive press, and yes the die in question comes on the GM!

Why would anybody prime anyplace but ON the press?!?!? Sheeeeeesh! I'm pretty sure my CH has all the parts in place to prime, they just need a lil cleaning/TLC to properly function.

Hi,
Here's a link to a short vid I did for 44Vaquero!

Notice that I am actually priming with the machine!

seagiant - Do you see any advantage to seating a bullet with the GM arrangement, i.e. better bullet alignment, than the typical way of just placing a bullet on the case mouth? In your video it looks as if it's cumbersome to place the bullet in that little opening in the die.

Hi,
Well for me it was a new thing to get used to, but I actually liked it, as it was NOT as finicky as setting the boolit on the case!

The other thing is setting the bolit on the case you can sometimes flip the case!

With the RCBS die you just push it in the slot.

The trouble for me was the holder would stick at the top nd you would have to unstick it!

Just something to get used to for awhile but thought it a good idea!

All in all I just want 2 dedicated machines for .44 and .45 cal to crank out some range fodder... we like to shoot! :bigsmyl2:

Definitely less chance of seating your finger in a case using the RCBS seating die.

The CH Auto Champ that I have most of came with C-H dies for both the .38/.357 and .45 ACP. The Speed Seater die works well for flatnosed boolits, I don't think it would work very well for anything with a round nose.

Hi,
For some reason the GM came in mostly (90%?) .38/357 setup?

The other 10% was 44Mag and 9MM!

This is of course IMO, but what I have seen. Not official!

The CH Auto Champ is WAY more versitle and still fully supported by the good people at CH4D!

I don't know which model Auto Champ you have but I would simply convert you machine to the Model 5a priming system. That mounts on the upper platten and gives a clear shot to placing the bullet in the case. I have a Model III and a 5a, if I used the III more I'd switch it over. Right now I just use it for .380 and .45 acp which are my low volume rounds. The 5a does all my .38/.357 stuff.
