10 shot cylinder 5 1/2" barrel

I might have to get one.

Check it it out on Ruger web page.

This is the barrel length Ruger should have given to their 7-shot 327 Federal variant. I would snag one of those so fast it ain't funny. 4.2" ain't enough tube for this cartridge as a field gun, and 5.5" is the bare minimum. 6"-6.5" would be even better.

Hell of a 22 LR! The only down-side I can see is that 22s shoot kinda dirty, even with good ammo. My 6-shot D/A rollers all get a little balky to empty out or refill after 5-6 cylinders-full. I bring a bore brush with me hunting or shooting, and scrub out the powder/lube debris from the chambers every few cylinders, and life is lots better. I suspect a 10-shot roller will get balky as hell by cylinder-full #4.

I agree, it would appeal to me more as a 6-shooter

Too much gun for such a little boolit. 42 ounces! My 6 inch Model 28 weighs a whole 2 ounces more.

Ruger has never been hesitant to surround its charge holes or bores with plenty of metal. Or to adorn its front sights with Ithaca shotgun accessorizing.

Refers to bright-colored sighting bars inset in the sights. Ithaca used an orange front sight called a "Raybar" that reputedly assisted in attracting the eye and allegedly served as a pointing reference. Ruger's SP-101 uses a similar arrangement in its 327 Federal (and other) variants. Not a thing I like, but mine is not a majority view--if FireSight sales are any indication. It took a while for me to accept automatic transmissions in my trucks, too--but I eventually and grudgingly accepted them.

This sounds interesting but agree it would be heavy. I'm liking the 8-shot SP101 version more.

The automatic transmission is a devilish device sponsored by the Democratic party. They don't want anyone shifting for themselves.

I don't like the fiber-optic sights on Ruger's revolvers, either.

When I wanted a .22LR revolver for target and squirrel shooting, I liked the Super Single-Six long-barreled 22/22Mag in stainless but the fiber-optic front sight just doesn't appeal to me.

I kept looking and stumbled across a Dan Wesson .22LR blued revolver with a 8-3/8" barrel at a local gun show for $450US. I grabbed my wallet so fast I burned the back pocket off my jeans pulling it out.

I was not disappointed...I have well over a thousand rounds through this revolver in the last year and a half and its accuracy is amazing.

I have been able to hit the 12" gong at 200 yards at the gunclub using subsonic ammunition regularly off the bench and at 25yds it will throw cylinder full after cylinder full into the head of a ground hog silhouette target.

I still want a SA Ruger 22/22mag but it will have to have a standard front sight. I'll get one eventually, just not actively searching right now. some day in the not to distant future

In the past, Ruger has equipped their rifles and revolvers with spring-detent-retained front sights into dovetails engineered for end user switch-out, and an assortment of sight heights and tintings could be made available. Such a system would be a genuine upgrade.
