The Stock is nearly finished and the barreled action is going back th Dennis Feken for color case hardening of the action and blueing of the rest. The dovetail for the front sight and drilling and tapping for the scope blocks and tang rear sight will be done before the hardening and blueing. The next time I see the rifle the sights will be installed and after I install the stocks I can go shooting.

The stock is about 95% completed so here's a picture. Also for those that are interested here are some pictures of the internal parts, as you can see this action is quite different from a Winchester or Browning.

You did a great job on that stock, it is beautiful.

Wanna build a set of stocks for my rolling block? :P

The stock on it just fits, utilitarian and bland. It sure has no class like the one you just finished.

John,

Was the fellow that made that 'Wall action, one of the principles of the Falling Block Works company that was making actions in the 70's and 80's? Or did he reverse engineer one?

The internals are too close to the one drawing I have, for there to not be a relationship. That hole in the hammer is pretty distinctive!

Looks really good!

I picked up this diagram from another forum a while ago, and it is about all I have been able to find related to the FBW actions.
The DeHaas Gunsmithing Idea book has some stuff, but only one partial diagram.

This one is a model J, but the poster said that all the FBW actions were similar inside.

I have not seen any (of the few) pictures that had tangs on them, which in my opinion, does improve the look overall, though it would make fitting a stock a tad more work.

I am rather fond of the looks of the Highwall action, but have yet to cross paths with the "right" one :-)

I was going to ask you to post pictures of the interior parts, prior to finding that you had.

I have saved them!

There is only so much information in a line drawing!

I'd REALLY like to find some good detail pictures of the FBW Model K action, on a scale grid. The model K was about a half sized High Wall action, or maybe 2/3. I have not seem many about!

Trevj,

This is my first hi-wall, I am more interested in the unique than the origional, that's what got me so interested in this one.
