I have a new Gen4 G34 with a new KKM barrel with a Carver 4 port comp. I am getting black soot on the OUTSIDE of my cases regardless of the powder or load. The soot is only on 1/2 of the case, 1/2 way around it and the whole length of the case.
I can't accurately measure the chamber with the barrel in the slide to confirm if the chamber is oval or out of round.
I am shooting 95 grain and 120 grain powder coated lead bullets. The barrel slugs at .355" and the bullets are sized to .357". I have loaded HS-6, WAC, Titegroup, Bulleseye and Clays. I have loaded minimum to maximum published loads in .2 grain increments. The soot is the same on all loads and all powders. The soot seems to get worse or heavier as the charge weight goes up.
The soot is all over the breech face. It almost seems like the burn is forcing backwards between the case and the chamber, perhaps before the bullet exits the barrel? Is this related to the comp? I have the same set up on my G35 and have never seen this before.
Below are pictures. Has anyone else had any similar problems?
