I just got a Henry chambered in 357Magnum. I cast and load the Lyman 358156 for my GP-100. Would this boolit work for deer hunting out of the Henry? What velocity? If not, what are your recommendations for lead cast hunting with this rifle?
I have taken a white tail doe last week with a Hornady 158gr XTP HP using 15.8gr of H110. It worked very well.

I wouldn't change a thing with your H110 load except for change out the jbullet for the gas checked bullet. See how it shoots in your rifle. Make sure you have some tin in your alloy to maintain toughness of the bullet for hunting.

Good luck

Thank you. I'm going to take your advice and load some. If they shoot well, I have a hog hunt coming up in Feb I'll try them on.

The 358156 works great on my local deer and hogs too, so I don't think you'll be the least bit disappointed. Honestly, my only concern would be if it feeds in your rifle, cause my rounds feed great in my Rossi 92, ok in my Winchester 94, and hang up in a friends Marlin 94. I have given a few to people I know from the range that shoot .357 leverguns, and it seems that they feed fine in most guns, but just refuse to in the occasional one. And I have not had a chance to try them in a Henry, so no clue on that particular model.

I use the Lyman 358156 HP in my Marlin lever 1894 with almost the same charge of H110 as you are using. My chronograph say it is running right at 1700 fps. This load really take Armadillos apart.........Terry

Wonderful boolit. You just want a little upset with the velocity of the rifle. Not too soft or hard.
