It won't be shiney for long. A few horseback trips in a scabbard and she will have some real patina. ;)

Nice rifles both Duke...I like the TD model the best because of it's checkering...I have a Browning/Miroku 1886 Carbine in 45-70 and a Winchester/Miroku 86 LWT in 45-70....The Winchester came with a tang safety...I had a lot of miss fires because of the safety but a good friend who knows his way around these safety's fixed it and did a trigger job on it as well....I haven't shot either one of them much but I remember the Browning was extremely accurate with RL-7 and Hornady 350 gr. RN....It would also make my shoulder black and blue after a doz. or so rounds down range with that load as it had the metal carbine butt plate... I bought a nice walnut shotgun style butt stock from Great American Gunstocks but haven't got around to fitting and finishing it yet...
When you get some easy shoot'n loads worked up for yours post them...I won't have time this summer to work with mine but maybe next summer.......

bigbear...
I got the load from a "GUNS" article on the Browning 1886 written by Holt B?(Benson?) when these rifles came out...I can't find any load info or the article in my records...Hornady manual for "Marlin Type" loads lists the following...22" barrel
RL-7 350RN
Low..38.3grs @1400fps
High..49.8grs. @1900fps
IIRC Holt rounded off the top load listed above to round numbers...[smilie=1:
I'll look some more this weekend to see if I can find the folder for this rifle...
