Just ordered a 360-154 wide front. Looks like it comes with two sets of pins. I assume one for hollow point and one for plain nose. It is the gas check version.

Anyone shoot this boolit? How does it work for you in .38 and .357 mag?

I have used it in 357 mag S&W 686 (solids w/GC), but it has not yet produced the accuracy I am looking for. Still working on it tho.

Got the mold the other day. Tried it out tonight. This was my first time casting with a hollow point mold, but thanks to all you fine people here I believe I was ahead of the learning curve.
My lee 4-20 was full of coww+2%sn. Got it holding temp between 700-750. Started dropping beauties in short order. Hope they shoot as good as they look!
It was a good casting session, boolits dropped right out of the mold with a very light tap. My lee bottom pour wasn't dripping? Maybe I should by a lottery ticket!

They look good. I still haven't found a reason to use a gas check out of a 357 even at rifle velocities. I would buy a lottery ticket :)

Dang this site and persons posting on it:bigsmyl2:!!! Seeing this post I immediately knew that this mould is one I "gotta' have" -- so, I have one coming. I have a Henry (new version) .357 which has been collecting too much dust in back of safe -- this looks like just the fodder it will be fed! I really like using the gas checks -- maybe they are not needed, but for me I notice a definite inverse proportion with minimal/no leading from boolits I apply GCs to.
Thanks(???) re bringing this mould to my attention!

I like the forgiveness of having a gas check. My main reasoning for this boolit was to be able to cast a super soft pill for low speed .38 special. And get good expansion. I spend more time getting everything just right on my rifle loads.

Very good points re using super-soft alloy; seems to me the gas check would uniformly squish the alloy just enough to guarantee obturation, with it (the check) attenuating propensity to leave a lead smear. I have an old S&W Victory Model 11 (which was their Model 10 chambered for the British, in .38/200 -- aka .38 S&W) and intend to give your theory/suggestion a try! Using the cast H&G bullets in it, pretty nothing I've ever cast and loaded keeps the barrel from leading. I've fired a j-bullet every 2nd cylinder or so in past. Perhaps with softer alloy and the gc -- you'll have solved the problem with this revolver!
BEST!

Good looking bullets.......Give us a report after shooting. I'm a gas check fan myself as well.

Hopefully I will get a chance to shoot tomorrow. Then I'll give a full report. I have .38 special and .357 magnum samples loaded up.

Tried these in .38 special. Poi was high to the sights of my model 10 s&w. Accurate enough for a defense load. 4 grains of alliant bullseye.

.357 magnum poi was spot on the sights with "reasonable" accuracy. But I got a large velocity spread.http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/16/01/03/336c04aee5275599a84bb4aab6da8c8a.jpg

This new chrono I bought is going to be a major game changer in working up loads!
