I have a quantity of these, made by Oregon Trail. My load books only show 200-205 grn loads. Has any one used these, and have a powder load suggestion?

A charge of 24.5 grains of RL7 or 22 grains or 4198 works fine with up to a 240-grain cast bullet and does not exceed factory pressure. Is safe in the '73 Winchester and clones.

Thanks for the reply, but I'm interested in using pistol powders for use in pistols.

What kind of revolver? In Colt SAA or clone 6 grains of Bullseye or Red Dot, 7 grains of Unique, 8 grains of Herco.

Are you sure those aren't .429" instead of .427"? I checked Oregon Trail's website, there are no 225 gr. boolits currently listed.

If chambers are within SAAMI dimensions .429 bullets will have safe release clearance. My Colts years ago did best with .429, you want to size to fit cylinder throat, NOT barrel groove diameter.

These are definitely .44-40; I bought them here from another member a couple of years ago, and he sent the box. It must be that. OT has discontinued them. They are, according to the box, .427. I like the sound of 7.0 Unique. Trail Boss would be good too, but RCBS has never updated their charge table for that powder when the Little Dandy system is used. Too bulky I guess, it looks like miniature Cheerios. Thanks to all for the input.
