The .44 caliber in .432 swaging die of my own die design, has a twin brother in .45 caliber of .452 or .453, plus one in .454 diameter that works with my C-H swage dies. (has differenton size bolt thread on the die body)
One only has to change out the lower swage die body and use the top box spring affair with a change of ejector button.
The press has a C-H swage die body that is sized about .452 or .453, I'm having trouble iwith a bad dial caliper.
The die body next to the press is sized in .454 diameter.
The one on the left in back is my first one...a .432 diameter.
Everything is working very well so far.

I have to agree, the springs do look like one of those new fangled coiled light bulbs.
But they are really plastic or rubber wrapped coil springs that are really strong tension...you can't compress the springs by hand, at least I couldn't.
But the good news is they do indeed swage the bullets as you can see them in this picture.
One thing I did on the C-H .45 caliber swage die and box spring, I designed a new and better two piece ejector rod that splits inside the turned down bolt in the bottom of the spring...it is much thicker and stronger than the first one that was thin and had two hex screws.
This two piece ejector rod is threaded and split in the middle in a spring support bolt...they screw on and off as needed change out ejector buttons.

You better file the patent paperwork[smilie=1:[smilie=1:[smilie=1:

I spent over two grand on a patent on my .44 apc auto pistol cartridge back in the late 80s, nothing ever came of it.
Can't afford to do a self patent again at my age, if any one wants to promote this idea with me...I'm open for suggestions. :)

Jim,
I would be willing to buy a set of plans for your contraption. It makes a lot more sense than having to eject the boolits/bullets with a mallet!
Nice job...

That is really innovative.
I am also interested in prints, if they become available.
Thanks

Well alright, if you guys want to buy my plans...I'll have to draw some up with the exact dimensions that will be carefully measured.
I'll include information for everything I can think of in making this item, plus some good email photos of the parts and their measurements such as thread tpi etc. But the plans will have that too, and they will be mailed to you.

I have a limited amount of parts left from the original build, punch blanks, tubeing and springs.

The only machining of parts would be the square box that holds the spring would have to be drilled top & bottom.
The punch ejectors would have to be made -- drilled and tapped, and the spacer bolt for the two piece ejector rod would have to be drilled and tapped.
Then a bolt fitted to the top of the swage die body would need drilled for the ejector rod.
Kenjuudo, that is a great offer on the limited parts...those would go a long way in fabricating this device.
I've almost got the drawing made which includes the improvements on the two piece ejector rod bolt.

Georgeld, I hope that's not sarcasm.

OK, plans are ready for a princely sum of $15.
This will include any email help like pictures, words of construction etc.
Don't laugh, got 3 customers so far.
Jim
In this picture you see on the left a small turned down bolt, this was an early attempt at trying to make my two piece ejection rod that borders on both sides of this turned down bolt with 5/8X18 threads.
Works much better than the first proto type one piece rod.
Also, the picture shows a C-H .452 and .454 swaged die body. Those are about your best bet price wise, unless you're a super machinist and can make your own custom ones like my first attempt in .432 diameter...that was made by outside help.
I'm no super machinist, can barely do minimal things with my crapper 7X10 HF lathe. But that don't stop me from thinking up gadgets like this one.

I heard that Jim had died...a great loss. If anybody has these plans I would like to get some. I would be willing to pay for them...if your willing to donate copies of everything I would gladly send the money to Jim's family. Thanks. Bob, AEC(AW) Retired

Hicountry,
Send Kenjudo a pm or email. I think he helped Jim on the setup.

We already do. Not the spring method but one that tightens down to the ram.
