I am going to load cast lead for a Mossberg patriot 308. Any suggestions?

So so many questions before good answers can be given
First have you slugged the barrel so you know the proper size bullet you need to fit YOUR bore

Hmmm...I'd just size the boolits to .310" and run with it.

YMMV

Welcome to the site!

Completely clean your barrel of all copper residue from jacketed bullets before shooting cast boolits.

For hunting, select a mold that has a wide flat point for maximum terminal shocking power. The RCBS 30-180 FP, Lyman 311041, Lee 311-170, NOE 311-165 SC or NOE TL311-180 Ranch Dog molds all fit that description and will work well for you. Try for velocities of around 1800-1900 FPS.

16-18 gr of 2400. Wonderful load. Incredibly accurate in mine and has been devastating in terminal ballistics tests with 160 gr. CB's.
