It's been quite a number of years since I have done any casting. I am going to start back casting .223. I would like the groups recommendations as to if I should size the boolet to .224 or .225. I will not be slugging the barrel. The boolet will be the Lyman 55 gr. 225646.
If you have any other bullet recommendations I'll take them. They are to be used in an AR 1 in 7 twist.
Thanks!

I have been shooting cast in the .22 Hornet & .222 Rem. for nearly 20 years. I size to .226 with no problems. .225 would be fine..I like to size a bit fatter for tight fit in bore..and gas check even annealed will usually spring back a few .0001" over sizer dia. after sizing.

My .223 Handi-rifle shoots .225" cast bullets nicely (barrel slugged at .224"). I don't have a larger sizer, mebbe .226", so I don't know if a larger bullet would chamber.

Didn't think to mention the rifle is actually chambered for .556x45. I hear the throat dia for those runs around .227. If I understand correctly the best boolit dia would then be .226? What say y'all?

Take some fired brass, use your calipers and measure the inside neck diameter. That should work.
