First of all, not a cast boolit that was used, but it is my cast boolit rifle.

My daughter has been hunting with me quite a bit. She was with me when I shot a deer earlier this year. She just turned 7 and has been saying she wants to shoot a deer herself. The last three afternoons she has been shooting small pumpkins and a deer target at 75 yards. She is a good shot. Today we went out and setup along a fencerow where the deer come out about sundown. Two does came out and heard her when she asked me, "can I shoot one?" The bigger doe stared, stomped, bobbed her head and watched us for a while, then ran off to the right and kept up more of the same. She was facing us, and I wasn't going to allow a frontal shot. The other deer walked broadside and gave us an opportunity through a gap in the trees. My daughter had to shift position 45 degrees to the right, but got situated and lined up her shot. Placement was perfect behind the shoulder halfway up the body. The doe ran about 70 yards before she went down.

Wolfer, it is a Remington 700 300 Whisper. The load was a 125 grain Hornady SST over a max load of Lil Gun. I usually shoot 311247s and MP 311410s I'm it, but wanted to bump the velocity up with a J - bullet for her. I was pleased with the accuracy during load workup. Four went into a cloverleaf at 80 yards. Called it good right there.

Good job! That's a good proud/happy smile she has and for good reason. Looks like a good doe she took. And a nice looking rig as well. This year, I have become a huge fan of the 300 Whisper/Blackout, although I prefer it in a MSR. It is a great deer round at reasonable ranges. And an ideal round for a kid to deer hunt with. I've had multiple positive experiences with the 125 gr SST in the 300 too. It is an excellent bullet at those velocities. My daughter took her first deer (she's 11) this fall with the 300 and the 125 gr SST too. So who enjoyed it more, you or her? As a dad, it's a pretty big thrill to see you kid take their first deer. Congratulations to the both of you!

Super duper awesome sauce! Congratulations to you both! My son got his first two deer this year. One with a cast bullet in the 300BLK and one with a 123gr SST in 7.62x54R. He got our first cast boolit kill ever and the first with the Mosin Nagant.
