I have a Mauser 98, Green Mountain, 35 Whelen barrel I'd like to screw onto an Interarms Mark X action. Can it be done just that easily? Is the thread pitch and shank the same for a 98 Mauser and an Interarms Mark X? I already have the No-Go and Go gauges from a CZ-24/35 Whelen build.

I'm putting the Midway Green Mountain .35 Whelen barrel on a VZ24 (just got stock and trigger yesterday from Boyd's) and my barrel lists that it fits most Large Ring (1-3/8") Mauser model 98s as well as Centurion, FN, Interarms Mark X, and many others with 1.100" x 12tpi.

You are going to like the Whelen.
I did a Mauser 98/29 in one, with a Adams Bennet barrel ten years ago, and love it.
It is still one of my best shooting rifles.

Thanks, just what I needed to know! Mine might be on a VZ24, too...don't remember. I used a Douglas barrel with a 1 in 12 twist. Shoots everything between 150 gr to 310gr boolits. Loves jacketed, too (except for 250gr SP Hornadys).

Thought I might want to try a 1 in 14 twist in the Green Mountain barrel. Oh, I just really wanted another 35 Whelen!

My barrel is the 1-14 twist also.
It seems to shoot the heavier Cast 358009 pretty good when I PC them.
But the 200 to 250 in all bullets seems more accurate, both Jacketed and cast.
I still have a second Whelen barrel , and ten Mausers that I can rebarrel.
But deciding which receiver to use is the problem.
I don't want to Bubba any of the originals that are in good shape, and I have several that have already been rebarrel to other calibers.
I really need to start working on my Switch Barrel set up, so I can just swap barrels.
