I am wanting a leather sling for an 1874 C. Sharps, with a 30" heavy 45-70 barrel. This would be used if ever the occasion came to hunt with this rifle. Most likely will not be woods walking or stalking as the rifle is too heavy for extended carry. I was thinking deer hunting from a stand type of thing. The rifle has no sling swivels of any sort. A slip on butt pad with attached sling with a loop for the barrel was what I was after. I thought someone might give me some input on what to use or not to use based on experience. I am sure that the weight of the rifle would require a heavy wide sling to properly manage the weight of the rifle. I plan to post in wanted to buy just in case someone here has what I am after. I hope to get some input to aid me in my WTB post.

Thanks for your input.

.

Look for (google) images of a no-swivels shotgun sling.

Thanks pietro for the link. That is what I was looking for and thinking might be what I could use to sling the rifle. I have passed it on to my son as an idea for a Christmas gift for old dad this year. I also posted in "want to buy" just to see if anyone had anything they would be willing to sell. So we will see what happens. Thanks again.

Dixie gun works has a nice one. I've purchased two of them one for the Rolling Block and one for the Highwall both 30" barrels.
