Looking for a side scope mount for my dad's Winchester 94 trapper 30-30.

Midway only seems to have mounts for the angle eject mods which my dad's is not.

Leads? Links?

.

Kwik-Site makes a bracket-type, no-gunsmithing side mount w/1" rings for the TE Winchester 94, which utilizes the two factory peep sight prepped & plugged holes, and the large lever pin cover screw - both located in the LH receiver sidewall. ($35)

Please don't drill holes in that fine Winchester; buy the angle eject model having both scoped and none scoped versions. Or like Pietro mentioned get the quickset mount if they don't leave marks.. My 02 cents worth.

Hope you can shoot left eyed. I tired one of these in the 80s, gave it away

My son has one that he wants to take off. Nothing wrong with it, he just wants iron sights.

PM me if interested?

Those sidemounted scope guns are a dream come true for a lefthanded shooter.

[smilie=w::bigsmyl2::happy dance::happy dance::2_high5: Southpaw here and double ditto. With a small compact and small bell scope with maybe no bell on the front they are a lot better than those big see-thru mounts. Just a little tilt and you can go from scope to irons and still have a good cheek weld. Same with double triggers on a double shotty. Makes for great foul weather shooting. I just wish the 30-30 had more ummmph for foul weather tracking. I am not sure of the righties though.

Just a FYI, you need to make sure the mount you get will fit the lever pin cover screw threads on your rifle. There were two different sizes. The post '64's are larger than the pre '64's. I believe Weaver also made a side mount for both pre and post '94's. I believe I have the mounting plate for a post '64 '94. If someone needs it I will look for it. That would be this one ---> http://www.midwayusa.com/product/410124/weaver-side-mount-scope-base-3b-gloss

I you are desperate for a peep sight, and do not want to machine any holes in a vintage rifle, I have a somewhat 'Rube Goldberg" solution that I have on my 49 vintage Winchester 94. I installed a Marbles Bullseye sight in the rear dovetail, then built a circular cap that slides over the Bullseye sight-- with screws that trap the cap on the large ring of the Bullseye. I drilled my peep hole in the cap. The set screw on the top allows me to rotate the cap plus or minus 1/16", which gives me a windage adjustment. This is just a crude prototype-- I'm still looking at ideas for something better.155084

page 20. The SM-94/36 fits without drilling additional holes.
