Anyone know of a smith that does this? I've heard it mentioned at a gun show but it was all triple hearsay that a few were made.

Quite a few smiths convert the GP-100 to 41 Special but to my knowledge no reputable smith will convert one to 41 Magnum.......

I've measured the cylinder wall thickness in my GP-100. I can't believe it would safely handle .41 Magnum pressures after removing another .040". You would have to go to a five shot.

Talk to either Dave Clements or Hamilton Bowen. They'll tell you straight up if it's doable, and both do outstanding work.

That would be acceptable. I'm debating between tracking down a S&W 57 (IIRC) in a 4 inch or finding another beater GP100 and having a conversion. My GP100 has seen better days, but I like blasting away with the 358627 so much I can't get rid of it.

Reeder is offering the GP100 in .41mag, and .356GNR, 5 shot custom cylinder.

I don't believe Clements will do that conversion and that he believes it unsafe. That was from a Q & A on his website a few years back. He will only go as high as 10mm on the GP 100. The limiter is the amount of steel in the forcing cone.

10mm with moon clips would be massively cool.

actually a 5 inch gp100 in 40 would be just about right!

Checked out the Reeder site and looked all over and finally found the 41 mag info.

Certainly is a nice pistol but at $2000 plus a gun I'm thinking this is a one off custom safe queen not something anyone with half a brain, and a family, would carry for SD.

for that price, i just can't see anything the 41 would do that a 357 could not.......unless you just wanted something very cool, then i understand completely.

Hasn't S&W revived the Mod. 57 w/4" barrel. I had one many moons ago and it was a very good shooter with the Lyman 41-212-SWCPB (no longer offered) over 2400. Might be the cheapest route to go.

the 4" 57 and 58 are back and Gary Reeder puts a new 5 shot cylinder in his GP100 so the .41 will work --Heavy Metal is right it aint cheap -- I have a .410 redhawk he worked on for me and i really like it --.410 is .41/454

From my point of view, Ruger does that conversion or did ... they call it a .41 Mag Redhawk. If you want a double action .41 Mag, that's what you should buy in my opinion. Love mine.
