so the logic is, what ever cartridge can use the 311041 at 1700 fps should be good for killing deer, right?

That is my way of thinking. I've killed several deer and coyotes with the 311041 with a small HP all at around 1700/1800 fps. 30-06,30-30 and 30-40 Krag.

Terminal performance has been excellent.

My son and I have killed a button buck and a 200+lb 10pt with the 170Lee out of the 300BLK at about that speed, so yes the design and velocity is potent. Suppose you shot a 170gr bullet from a 30-30 at 2200 fps MV. At 100-150 yards the velocity would have decreased to about 1700fps and it is still quite effective at that range.

I'm about to load up some 300 BO with that projectile and see what velocity I get. According to the 'charts' 15.5gr of Lilgun will get me that velocity out of a 16" brl with the 311041.

I'll load some up test function and accuracy in the AR then put it over the chrony.

May wack a deer with it this weekend. :)

Longest shot I can get is about 50 - 70 yds in the woods here.
