There is a Hollywood Super Turret on Ebay. Around $500.00 right now.

I saw that this morning. Rick Kalish has it listed. I've bought a lot of reloading "stuff" from him over the years. I don't know where he comes up with his items for sale, but he finds some good equipment.

He is very close to me. I will be bidding on this, even though it is woefully incomplete.

Woefully ??? Really ?? Not sure I agree, or understand the use of that adverb here. :-) The original turret handles are missing and also the swage bar set. Other than that, It looks like an easily restorable press. Just my $0.02 !!

As well as the main handle.

And, yes, I can restore it to its former glory.

The bidding seems to be following the same pattern as before except there are some new faces. The bidding has stalled at about $3k a few days before closing. Anyone want to predict the selling price?

$5000, which is more than I am willing to bid.

Grasslander

I bet it doesn't go as high as the other one. Just my guess....I say $4000 or thereabouts.

looks similar enough in the pics.. like i said i know nothing about these and has to be some nostalgic thing because you can build a hell of an ammo factory for that kinda money or just straight ammo i dont even own a dillon mainly because im cheap...

Mica, The second link is of a Hollywood Turret Tool. The first link is "THE" Hollywood Super Turret. It is one of the rare ( limited production ) presses that Hollywood Gun Shop produced. It is not being purchased , or bid on, to reload ammo. It is looked at as a collectors item. The value is in its rarity. The last one, in this condition, sold for $5453 on eBay. Who knows what this one will go for.

I'm still trying to get the different Hollywood models figured out myself. Lots of variations, as you know.

There is probably a list of the family of Hollywood presses out there. Maybe someone knows?

Thankyou for clearing that up. I assumed it had to be a collector deal...

Grasslander,

There are many models, however, most are built on two variations only. The Super and Turret Tool are all built on a similar design as the universal series of presses. The Metallic Automatic and the Shotgun automatic presses are built on the Senior frame, with other such presses as the Senior Turret and the Senior ( single stage ).

Thanks Tracvision. I know you could write a book on Hollywood products, but that clears up a lot for me.

For less than $5000 you can copy that one or build a better press.

EDG,, That is possibly true, but you may have missed the point. This is a collectible item. The value is in its vintage and rarity. You can very easily reproduce an old colt handgun with todays cnc equipment. However, the value would not even come close to the real thing. I think you will find that most of us here are collectors of vintage Hollywoods.

Hold your horses boys!

Re-read post #28

I was praising Grasslander on his perfect prediction. :)

I screwed up on the post and it did not include his Quote on the prediction which I tried to include. I'm not smart enough to figure out the proper edit after the fact.

Wish I had that kind of money to drop on another.

So this means the next one is mine?

I would say the chances are greatly improving. The number of people seeking a Super Turret is limited. The last two offered on eBay were chased by only two bidders willing to go much above $3k. The next one could be your charm. Stay in the game and you will one day get yours, that is if you still want one by then.

Kevin Rohrer
12-02-2015, 09:36 PM
I will. The only reason I didn't go above my bid was I need to get new tires on the Pcar. It's a shame the timing was wrong, as I could have driven to the seller to pick it up.

Very nice complete, original example of a very rare ( as you know ) Hollywood Super-Turret Reloading press. Congratulations and kudos for your tenacity. I know you have been beating the pavement for a while. :-)
