Trying to decide on a good heavy flatnose boolit for my 357/38, the NOE mold seems to fit the bill.

Can anyone confirm if this will work? Just want to make sure before I drop the coin to try it out. I've had great luck with the buffalo bore 357 in the gun.

I am a big fan of the NOE 360-180 WFN in plainbased and gaschecked.

They work great in my Marlin 1894C sized at .360".

Length may be a concern, what gun will you be shooting them in?

Maybe consider the Ranch Dog design.
I think NOE did a run of them with standard lube grooves at one time.

That bullet is just a clone of the RCBS 35-200 FN. A Google search for it might give you some firsthand info. If you can get it to fit I'm confident you will be happy. The RCBS is the best shooting 35 rifle bullet I have.

The 360-180-WFN would be a better option. The 360-200 is a rifle bullet. Mine drops at .361 so you could potentially have to size it down quite a bit. I know people use it in 357s. But unless it's in a rifle the velocity isn't going to be that great.

I was bored so I ran the numbers. Bullet sized to .359 w/ an OAL of 1.590. These are 95% charges according to Quickload. 10.5 grains H110 out of a 6" S&W 586 yields 986 FPS. Out of an 1894C same charge yields 1223 FPS. This is at a pressure of 25,500 PSI

IIRC, when the original run of the NOE 360-180-FN was delivered, there was a post that stated the boolit didn't feed in a Rossi (it works perfectly in my 1894C). Nose to crimp on the 200 is almost certain to give you a cartridge too long to feed in your rifle. I know it would be too long to feed in my Marlin.

Frankly, I can't see the 180 not going clean through anything you should be shooting at with a .357 Mag rifle...

I wonder how it would do at 35,000 Psi, which I believe is SAAMI max?. The revolver I shoot these in isn't hampered by this Psi limit, so I can get mine, which cast at 220 grains to over 1,400 fps with ease. It would be a great lever gun boolit if it fed, which I bet it won't when crimped in the crimp groove.

100% charge of H110 will yield a pressure of 30,250 PSI. I personally will not compress that powder. 100% charge of Lil'Gun will yield 28,400 PSI and a little over 1300 FPS.

You can get to 35k w/ 2400. But the muzzle velocity will be less than w/ Lil'Gun. These are all approximations from Quickload so be cautious. I've found the predictions for velocity to be spot on. I'm trusting their pressure predictions because I don't have a way to test it.

Thanks for running the numbers. I believe it was John Linebaugh who printed that H-110 has a pretty steady pressure curve to about 90,000 Psi. He has the pressure testing equipment, and has blown up a few guns while testing their limits. Without that equiptment, I am just guessing. The loads I have using this boolit fit ONLY in my F/A, so I don't have to worry about them making their way into a K-Frame S&W. I estimate my pressures in the 45,000 Psi range. I should send some out for testing to see if I am close.

Well to be honest, I found a lee clone for cheap and tacked in on to another order I was making. Very long for a 357 bullet, but case volume shouldnt really be an issue. Any recommendations on starting load data? I've check my Speer and hodgon online, neither goes up to the 200gr. As to why? I dunno, I was bored and it was a fun looking design for my carbine.

As I see:

10.5 grains H110 listed as 95% load, I'll knock it back another 5% and give it a work up.

Thanks all!
