I know JES does 338s and 358s and larger but can anybody rebore and rifle a barrel to 311 or 312 groove diameter?

Wayne York at Oregon Gunsmithing does .316

You might ask him if he can run the 308 cutter a little deeper

I'm sure Jes would rebore to 31 caliber. Thing is any worn out barrel probably would not clean up. Since you are only looking at .002" or les on the radius. Also a good chance the barrel isn't even that straight. Opening it up to 32 caliber with a .320" bore would be more realistic. Then you have 8mm at .323and 338 in that order.

If you are thinking cheap milsurp ammo like 7.62x54r for the Mosin, cheaper to buy a Mosin.

This is a 327 federal project I'm working on.

You could use a standard .308 barrel. Lots of .32 H&R Magnum used .308 barrels. Start low when working up loads and stop where appropriate. Oversized cast bullets easily conform to 'tight' barrels and often give superior performance.

BAGTIC, thanks for the suggestion on 308. I was thinking about that myself. If the 327 project doesn't work out then I might go to a 30 wildcat on a 223 parent case, maybe another 300 blackout or the Wilson cartridge 7.62x40 or whatever it is.

30-223Rem Reamers are available from PTG Reamers and the dies are available from CH-4D if you are going to go down the wildcat route. The wildcat is also known as the 30 Apache in the Silhouette Rifle matches. I'm slowly doing a 30-223 wildcat on an AR15 upper from a 300BLK barrel. I've got it up and running again with 300BLK loading data but am building load data with other powders and cast bullets in 115, 125 and 150gr bullet weights that I hope to publish as a documented thread on this site later.
