First blood for the 34 XCB

Opening day of deer season here in Missouri. Got to camp yesterday and was in the woods at daylight.
Its probably just superstition but I've found that if I pass on the first shot I may not get another.
This was the first shot.153287

A second year doe,mud fat, just like I like them.
The rifle is my new 34-57 or 34 XCB
22 gr of 2400 and the Lee 220 grain boolit cast soft. Velocity 2075 fps

About a 40 yd shot, deer traveled about 30 yds before piling up. Good blood trail. What you see is the exit, entrance was slightly farther forward.

Very nice, I also don't let the first 4 legged edible walk by. Our hunted meat is to important of a staple for us. Very nice doe, very nice rifle.

congrats and enjoy the fullfilment of a dream! I think I need to take a trip into Dickerson Zoo and see if they got some whitetails to look at because they aint out here! May be I should try find the animal that malled the old fella near us the other day. They thing mountain lion or bear.

Ain't seen too many here either. I passed up a button buck a few minutes ago. That's the only deer I've seen except the opening morning doe.
