I always wanted a 300 H&H to play with. I like "classic cartridges" and the 300 H&H is one I have not tried yet. Been searching for one on and off for years and they are hard to come buy at a price I can afford. Closest price wise as a factory chambered rifle is sometimes a used Rem 721 bolt pops up but usually for more than I want to spend.
Been thinking of two options
1- buy a used Savage in 7mm mag or 300 mag and then get a Shilen barrel pre-chambered in 300 H&H. I think bolt face be ok and magazine might work with little or no adjustments?
2- I have a T/C Prohunter in 30/06 with a 26" stainless fluted barrel that I am thinking I could re-chamber.
Looking at cartridge dimensions seems it should be easy??
Noticed the neck on 06 actually larger than on H&H but since H&H longer I don't think would be a problem.
H&H case rim is about 1.5mm larger than 06...any problems there?? Extractor fit?? or need mod??
