Just thought I'd share with you fine people my latest firearm.
Only picked it up yesterday.
It's a new Pedersoli Springfield Trapdoor Officers Model in 45-70.
Its a thing of beauty.
Will be getting a mold for it soon but in the mean time I've been using 300gn .458 hard cast projectiles that I can buy locally. And 30 grains of AR2207 (not sure of the US equivalent but it's made by ADI which I think is rebadged as Hogden powder) smokeless powder.
I'll be using Wano 2p once I've used up the hard cast and have a mold.
Currently in the process of reading a very interesting book I've recently bought by JS & Pat Wolf "loading cartridges for the original Springfield rifle and carbine".
The target below was at approximately 50 metres.

Really? With the decrease in the Australian dollar to the USD, makes this the most expensive firearm I own.

AR2207 is H4198. Nice work.

Nice rifle and target! I read the Wolf book recently, very interesting. I bought all the necessary loading gear and brass to follow his guidance exactly. Last week I loaded up the first 20 rounds with a full 70gr of FFG and the Lee 405 bullet in 20-1 alloy. I'll be trying them soon in my M1884 trapdoor rifle.

The ADI website has an "equivalency" chart header front and center on the page showing in a search.

............That's a very pretty rifle. Even though it IS a single shot, it has an ejector. Operated correctly it will sling the empty out over your right shoulder. With a bit of practice and reloads in a cartridge belt, you can send quite a bit of lead downrange in not too much time :-)
