The cardboard box (sealed with a string) was marked ".30 caliber ball ammo", made at the Frankford Arsenal. On the side it was marked with a velocity, and a date of 1898.
I know the 30-40 Krag ammo was originally called .30 Army. Would this also be for the Krag?

I went back to the store and asked another salesman what the ammo was. He said 30-40 Krag. I bought two boxes - one was opened, one unopened. Dated 1897 and 1898.

I found this full box of ammo last summer, and the wooden box a few weeks ago.

I went back to the store and bought the last unopened box. What the heck...
A friend and her husband dug up this ammo in their yard. They gave it to the police, but kept one marked 55 caliber.
There's probably more buried in the yard. I can guess at some of it..

The eight round Garand clips should have .30-06 ammo.

That "55 caliber" round, if it's the one by the clocks, is probably a .30-06 M2 ball round, made in 1955. Marked SL 55, or LC 55, or TW 55, something like that? Typical Korean-war vintage Garand and .30 machinegun ammo.

I see .50 cal machinegun ammo, .30-06, .45acp pistol, and .30 cal M1Carbine rounds. Black tips are armor piercing, red tips are tracers.

I sure wouldn't have given them to the police!
