Congratulations! Those PRB's do work. I took my first with one last fall. Before that it was all conical bullets I cast but now I am a believer in the simple lead ball, too.

Nice buck. Way to go. I thought I was the last guy in the world shooting what I consider a real black powder rifle and using a round ball. Good to see there are others. Just as deadly today as it ever was.

Greetings and Congratulations !
Nice looking buck you were blessed to see. 30 yards sounds like the river bottoms I hunt.
Howdy Pac Another flint shooting when we are up north. With a little looking about you will find out there are many yet.

I'm still shooting a .62 cal. flintlock, 340 grain round ball, it really thumps em.

Even a 45 PRB hits em like a 20# sledge. I quit using conicals years ago for deer everywhere but in open desert country where a little better ballistic coefficient is helpful.

pretty little rifle gun you got there, nice buck too :) I'm another RB and flint shooter. I admit I do have a couple of those fancy newfangled guns that use percussion caps, senaca and hawken from TC, but haven't used one in 10 years! Like 3F too, 75 gr for me, and I hardly ever get to recover a ball!
There are still a few flint shooters around here still!

80 grains of FFFG seems to get er did.

All mine are cap locks, never was good enough to master the flinchrock, or just not willing to shoot enough to do so!

Looking back it may seem I am saying that I shoot a flint lock too. That is not the case. I shoot a .50 Hawkins with caps. I like 80gr FFg with a round ball. Wish I did had a flintlock. I was talking about a traditional style BP rifle.

That's a really sweet combo, buck and rifle. Thanks for sharing!

I use a .54 Lyman GPR flinter, so there's a few of us left. Not enough, but a few.

Very cool, here in pa at first all black powder was flintlock, did a lot of shooting to get good enough to hit the target, took my first buck with a tc 45 flintlock about 15 years ago, picked up a pedersoli 36 cal frontier rifle for small game, haven't shot it yet, looking forward to getting it out. congrats Paul.
