There is a late model (frame lock, current style rubber grips) S&W 67 in good used condition at a pawn shop nearby. It looks to be an ex security or LE gun as there is some scuffing on the finish. Mechanically it seems to be excellent. 67's rarely turn up as used guns around here and I've always wanted one.

They want $630.00 for it but I know they would come down. What is the most you would pay for it? I've seen them go new for $650-700.00. Also, is there an easy way to permanently deactivate the stupid frame lock?

I can't help you with a price as my newest S&W is 20+ years old. However, there is a vendor on the S&W discussion forum that sells plugs (http://smith-wessonforum.com/accessories-misc-sale-trade/374102-jmt-sight-pusher-1911-m-p-xd-ruger-beretta-revolver-plugs-ship-note-added.html) for the internal lock (http://smith-wessonforum.com/accessories-misc-sale-trade/374102-jmt-sight-pusher-1911-m-p-xd-ruger-beretta-revolver-plugs-ship-note-added.html). They might be able to help you with your other question over there as well.

Good luck.

It is an ok deal. I think it is a little high. I would pay around $500.00 if possible. They are great guns but the price has definitely climbed on these in the last couple of years.

Been there. Done that. I spent months poking around shops before I stumbled upon a nice early model at a very nice price. The very few ones I had seen prior to that were either butchered competition guns or "collector's items" with associated price tags. Paying anything less than the asking price of $630 would be reasonable, seeing how you could get a brand new one for around $700.

Personally, for $630 I would continue shopping for a pre-lock version. Haunt Gunbroker every day. The stainless finish polishes up nicely with Flitz, so I don't let it bother me if there are a few scuffs on a stainless S&W.

Yeah, this may be a fair price but it isn't a bargain by any means. The shop is in the low rent district so the 67 may be there for awhile. I will probably go see if it is still there the next time I get paid

Buy it. In a couple of years you can say..."and I only paid $630 for it".

If I had $630.00 extra cushion in my bank account I just might, or if it was at a super low price. As of right now I would have to layaway it and still have Christmas and holiday travel to pay for. We shall see what happens.

$630.00 before taxes for a used K-frame with a lock? Are they smoking crack ?

67's aren't that rare, there are plenty of pre-lock models out there and that price is WAY too high.
I'd pass on that one and wait for something better
