I recently have been learning about 6mm and all it's variants and was hoping I could get some clarity from the group here. I've got a stock AR-15 laying around with a 16" 1:9 twist barrel collecting dust and was wondering what is involved for configuring it to shoot 6mmAR?

Any insight what be appreciated.

If you are talking about 6mmx45 just a barrel change I believe. 6.8 spc needs a different bolt, mag, and barrel.

6x45 is just necked up .223. 6mmAR is based of Grendel/ppc case. Require special barrel, bolt, mags. Unless your after extreme accuracy at long range, I'd skip it, it's really best served by long 20"+ barrels.

Are you referring to the necked down 6.5mm Grendel?

Yeah that's what I was interested in.. and that was going to be my next question, whether or not it's worth pursuing at 18" or less..
