Driving home from the youth hunt and got to thinking about these bullets I bought.
They are 135gr with their "hi tek" coating on them. They are 135 gr. Think they can be shoot fast enough to humanely harvest a deer?
Rifle is a 16" bolt action 308

if they are gas checked you should be able to push them near 2,000 fps with ease, that would duplicate a 357 mag lever gun in energy and effectiveness.
if they are plain base the velocity's would of course be lowered and you would be closer to the 357's handgun velocity's.
that's how I would think of the situation.

No gas check bullets from Missouri. You should be able to get to 1,700 to 2,000 max no problem without a check. You would get solid info from Hi Tek users in the Alternative coating sub-forum. I have some 165 grain Whitetail - 1 Hi Tek bullets from Missouri and plan on going around 1,700 fps.

I don't know about harvesting,,,,,, but it would probably kill one.
