I got a used pot, plugged it in, then after a spark, some flame and smoke it died.

On the forum I got advise to buy a switch, which I did, installed it, was proud of the work, plugged it in, and wa la the lead melted. I was so happy. But the story is not over. The lead would never get hotter than 675F.(I have a thermometer).

Now the end, I removed the switch, direct wired the heating element, and bought and AC router controller from harbor freight for 19.95. Now I have a pot that pegs out my 750F thermometer, an variable temp control (not PID) that is useable and a pot that works for ME.

Give me ten bucks and I will ship you my old switch that costs 25.50 and shipping.
