View Full Version : Field stripping Marlins

Since I would rather ask a "dumb" question first, rather than feel "dumb" last, I'll ask this one; Is field stripping a Marlin 336 or 1895 any different than the procedure outlined in the sticky about stripping an 1894?
If so, any tricks or 'look out for this' tips would be welcome.:)

Pretty much the same except for the shape of the bolt, and the size of some of the parts.

Just be careful with the ejector. It just lays in a slot between the bolt and receiver wall, it is unattached and if you're not careful it can drop into the action or out on the ground when you remove the bolt. I always lay the rifle on it's left side to remove the bolt, gravity keeps the extractor in it's slot. Putting the bolt back in can be challenging, trying to hold it in position as you slide the bolt in.
