Does anyone happen to know off the top of their heads, what the rifling rate of twist is on the new Henry steel 44 mag? Mod. # is H012. Any info is appreciated.

Kevin Maguire of Henry's just confirmed to me today that all of their current .44 mag rifles have a 1:38" twist. Down thru the years I've had 2 Marlin 1894's in .44 mag that have the 1:38" twist. I tried many different styles and sizes of cast booits from .430 to .432 and all kinds of powders. Neither rifle would shoot to my satisfaction compared to my 1:26" twist Winchester .44 mag, so I sold them. When I was looking to add another .44 mag rifle to my collection, I looked at the Henry, but when I found out the model I was looking at had a 1:38" twist, I kept looking for another Winchester 1894 in .44 mag and finally found one last spring. It too, has a 1:26" twist and shoots very well now that I've got the trigger pull to my liking.

Lots of folks have been successful in getting .44 mag rifles with 1:38" twists to shoot to their satisfaction, but I was not able to.
Good luck in your quest!
