I came into an H&G mold...a two cavity marked #33 that is for rifle. It is definitely a 30 cal that has a blunt nose similar to a mold once produced by Lyman as the 311330? It casts at .312 and weighs approx 140 grains and uses a GC. Seems to be designed for use in the 30-30 as the flat profile would seem ideal for use without causing any problem in a tubular magazine. The mold is in good shape..appears to have been used little. It cuts nearly sharp holes like a wadcutter. Anyone know whether this design/mold was cut for the 30-30? or what. It seems to be a little light for 30WCF that usually uses 150 or 170 grainers. Any info or savvy that you supply would be appreciated. Thanks, LLS

From Tom's wonderful Hensley & Gibbs web site:

#33 - .30 cal. rifle. 140 grains at .750" length. "Same as #20 with point flatted". Gas check base.

#20 - .30 Caliber. Squibb-Miller 170 grain design. Gas check, one grease groove then grease/crimp groove with no forward bore diameter flat section before start of nose taper. Sharp point. "See August 1948 issue of American Rifleman, page 59- "One-hole groups" "January 30, 1951--Stafford Lewis--Size .308--1" at 100 yards." "June 27, 1955 J.C. Kotas Good 200 and 300 yards" "April 24, 1950. "Elrick- Iron sights, 1" at 75 yards" "March 29 1949” Harl Lee Jr. "Excellent results"
