The daughter of my shooting buddy that died in December called me up yesterday and asked if I wanted to buy the remaining guns in his collection, which suprised me since I had offered to buy them a couple months ago after myself and another friend sorted out all the ones that were in the will. I asked he what she wanted for them and she said that the best amount a dealer offered was 2700 so she would take 2800 since she would rather someone he liked buy them. That included the following guns that he shot Black in:
Winchester 1886 Take-down in .45-70 #4 of 500 w/ box, plus dies, cases, cast slugs.
Pedersolli Rolling block in .45-70 in long range configuration.
Winchester 97 pump in 12 Gauge, with Hornady 366 press w/ gas assist.
Navy Arms Henry in .44-40, early gun no import marks with a H and 2 digits stamped on the barrel w/400 cases and dies.
Percussian Sharps Copy in .54 in a long range configuration, plus 300 slugs and 25 lbs of black.
Plus the following smokeless guns:
Ruger M77 in .257 Roberts w/ 100 factory rounds and 100 empties and dies
S&W Model 15 .38 w/ a box of 100 new Laupa brass.
Charter Arms Buldog in .44 Special with some brass.
Plus she gave my wife the sewing machine, sewing table and all the stuff her mother had for sewing.
I just need to explain the purchase to my wife now and try to squeeze them into the safe. If I wasn't in the middle of a house move I would load up some .45-70 and head to the range.
